Named from on High
Some of us love the name our parents chose for us and others can’t stand it. Some even change it. When I was a young fella my parents told me I was adopted. Which kind of made sense as they both had very strong Scottish accents and I didn’t.
One night at Church I got wiped out by the glory and the Father spoke to me and said “I have called you Matthew”. I was laying there thinking, what the heck? That’s not what I had been getting called for the past 20+ years.
The next day I drove an hour to my parents home. As we were standing in the kitchen I asked “before you guys adopted me, did I have a different name?”
The both looked at each other and I said “was it Matthew?”
Together they said “How did you know”. Then I explained what had happened. I ask for their blessing to change my name legally and they gave me their blessing.
From that day forward I began walking into my new identity.
There’s power and identity in your name.
Standing with my feet planted firmly in Heaven.
