Clerical Collar and the Rainbow Lanyard.
Earlier this week I did a late night visit to see a Chaplain who was in the I.C.U. After Ministering to her I began to navigate my way back to where I had parked. The corridors were all darkened and I got a little lost. I was dressed in all black with just my white clerical collar. A female nurse walked out of a room and smiled at me, until she saw my Collar. She was wearing a Rainbow Lanyard. I gave her a big smile and saw her face change to that of hate. I kept smiling and waved and wished her a great night sleep. I wasn’t too sure what she said in her reply but I’m thinking it wasn’t all that friendly.
I was judged and hung out to dry just because of a piece of plastic around my neck? She had judged me, my beliefs, my convictions, everything, in a split second. Sadly her presumptions were all wrong.
She was proudly declaring her sexual preference, which to me is a bit strange. That would be like me wearing a lanyard with “straight” colours or symbols on it, if there is such a thing. Why is society dividing itself based on who you have sex with? People are placing their whole identity based on who they sleep with. Let’s face it, who really cares? Do what you want, but wearing a rainbow lanyard purely to inform people that you’re a lesbian is kinda weird.
I wear the clerical collar so the Hospital Staff know what I am there for and I get into places the general public doesn’t have access to.
Let’s end the division and see that we are all one human race.
You are not what you do in your bedroom, you are a son or daughter of God. Identified by your Royalty not sexuality.
Standing with my feet firmly planted in Heaven.
